The video is just less than 1 ½ minutes long!

When Barb said that I had to believe in myself before any of the training would work, it was a turning point for me…I have all the knowledge, skills, and love for kiddos that exhibit challenging behavior and now I need to believe that I can apply them and succeed.

With, "I got this!" as my foundation, I began incorporating all my prior knowledge into the "Barbisms". Barb helped me label and organize all the things I already knew about ECE and supporting kiddos that exhibit challenging behaviors....They are "exhibiting behaviors" because we haven't figured out

how to create a play-powered space for them.

Being" play-powered" was a really important "Barbism" for me. I have always used different voices when reading stories, used felt board stories that the kiddos could interact with, and found new ways (jumping, hopping, or singing) to transition, but I never realized how important these things were to helping all the children stay engaged and avoid challenging behaviors.

Once I understood the importance of being play-powered, I was able to label what I was doing and share my wisdom with my co-teacher and the parent helpers in my classroom.
